The Secret in Their Eyes (2009)
10/10
The plot unfolds slowly but steadily, and the acting is superb. Manages to be very much a personal story while touching subjects on the corrupt government in Argentina. I've seldom seen a film deserve an oscar more than this one.

Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball...
6/10
this straight-to-dvd sequel, is a pretty decent sequel, despite it's obviously lower budget. And like the original, the major plot twist is seen coming from a mile away.

When in Rome (2010)
2/10
Without a doubt the worst film i've seen this year so far... The script is terrible clichéd, and the dialogue makes the actors appear as wooden dolls. Supposed to be a romantic comedy, but contains neither romantic nor comedic moments.

Primer (2004)
8/10
One of the few time travel films that depicts it in a realistic way. It has a simple plot told in a convoluted way or a convulated plot told in a simple, depending on your point of view. A good film that could use repeat viewings to fully understand.

Unthinkable (2010)
7/10
Interesting thriller about torture interrogation/torture. Surprisingly well cast. The final ended being too theatrical, which takes some away from the overall film.

Armadillo (2010)
8/10
A great documentary about soldiers stationed in the Helmand province of Afghanistan. The is no interviews or narration, only pure footage that is incredibly beautiful shot. The catch however, is that we the viewers never get under their skin, and is left with a lot of tough talk, and not a lot of emotion.

It's mostly hit and miss with this film. In short, it's a story about 3 friends in Brooklyn, but there's never any real developement of the character's. And the point's are hammered in with a jackhammer. Alec Baldwin's small role as the gangster Caeser, is the highlight of this film

The plot is pretty simple, but still mostly fails to engage your curiosity of the characters. Instead it's the well thought out visual environment that makes this film worth watching. The ending does make up for parts of the story's shortcomings.

Exam (2009)
5/10
Probably a great idea on paper, but as it turns out not so much on film. Most of the film is used by the main cast to argue and discuss irrelevant matters, instead of solving a very important matter at hand.

What promises to be a sort of "space" version of the Thing but soon turns out be a lowbudget mess, that somehow has plenty of unnecessary explosions. Natasha Henstridge does the only decent acting in this film.

Great mystery drama based on real event. Though it can be problematic to set the film in a 10+ years timeline and with so many characters, it is handled very well mostly.

Man of the Year
7/10
Robin Williams play's a Jon Stewart-esque character who runs for president and wins! Robin is very much in his ace, with a great suppporting cast including: Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum and Lewis Black. The story is not without it's problems, but the great cast helps outweigh the at times silly story.

"Anden's" directorial debut which is also written by him and stars him as the main character. It's very much a oneman show, which is really a pity since other great comedians co-star but dont get very much screentime. Very funny at times, but i can't stop feeling "Anden" took the easy way out.

The Wrestler
10/10
Mickey Rourke is fantastic as this modern day gladiator. Many scenes are shot almost documentary-style which just adds to the feel of realism in the film, along with the fights, that are incredibly uncomfortable to watch. One of the best films of 2008.
